Skill Development & Livelihood Support

At Sirisha Rehabilitation Centre (SRC), we recognize that economic independence is a key step toward dignity and inclusion for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs). Our Skill Development and Livelihood Support Program is dedicated to equipping these individuals with practical, income-generating skills that lead to real-world opportunities, sustainable livelihoods, and improved quality of life.

Why It Matters

Many children and adults with IDDs face long-standing social and economic exclusion. Lack of access to appropriate education and employment avenues further increases their vulnerability. Our program addresses this by focusing on:

  • Identifying individual strengths and interests

  • Providing hands-on, structured skill training

  • Supporting families and caregivers

  • Facilitating employment and self-employment options

We aim to shift the perception from “dependence” to “potential” — building a society where everyone contributes meaningfully.

  • Training is customized based on cognitive level, age, and interest. We focus on repetition, skill mastery, and confidence-building through continuous mentoring.

Livelihood Linkages

Skill training alone is not enough — it must lead to sustainable income. Our livelihood support ensures the transition from training to earning by:

  • Facilitating home-based employment for those with mobility challenges

  • Setting up self-help groups and micro-enterprise models

  • Organizing sales exhibitions and connecting with local markets

  • Assisting in bank linkages, government schemes, and social security benefits

  • Engaging families to be part of the income ecosystem

We also collaborate with local businesses, NGOs, and industries to promote inclusive hiring practices and workplace sensitization.
